Parkway Children's School Of Excellence is a Christian school dedicated to providing quality care and education for children, of ages six weeks through pre-kindergarten. The staff is focused on meeting the needs of children during these formative years. We feel children are one's greatest asset and a Christian education is an important investment for any parent or guardian to make in their child's life.

Our Infant Care Program Our infant care program is staffed with experienced personnel who are dedicated to meeting the demanding needs of a newborn and the growing baby. We believe that meeting the child's needs quickly and effectively, with much nurturing, lays a good foundation that will last a lifetime.

12-24 Month Old Program This program is designed with the active baby in mind. This is a transitional period from being a baby to becoming a toddler. Our staff is aware of the developmental stages that the children of this age go through. Their physical and emotional needs change almost daily. To help the young child feel secure, we have a daily routine, a stable environment, a loving staff, and a variety of age appropriate activities.

At Parkway, we realize the developmental changes that occur between 12-24 months. That is why we separate our classes into 12-18 months and 18-24 months. When you visit our 12-24 month classrooms, it is very likely that you will see them painting with pudding, or playing with edible play dough, singing or reading a story.

If the weather is nice, it is more likely that you would find these classes outside playing on their own playground or on a buggy ride. With all of our activities, we still find time for naps, snacks, and lunch.

Parkway has an open door policy, which simply means that you can stop by and visit at any time.

2 Year Old ProgramPlaying is learning at the two-year-old level. The children learn by doing and experiencing. We take advantage of your child's energy and curiosity to make learning a pleasurable process. Our teachers provide a combination of planned activities with intervals of independent play. Our two's are provided with age appropriate activities to stimulate their fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, and social development.

There is a strong emphasis in these classrooms on potty training. We believe that positive reinforcement and consistency is the way to help our two's master potty training.

Because we recognize the developmental differences that occur in this age group, we have divided them into younger and older two's.

3 Year Old Program Our three and four year old program incorporates "Active Learning for Three's" curriculum. The room is arranged with different "learning centers" to provide opportunities for creative play, emotional development, and to encourage social living skills.

Every week, these classrooms emphasize a different letter or number. They use tactile ways of learning such as making a letter "O" with Cheerios or making a "T" with spaghetti.

Reading readiness, literature, science, pre-math, art, introduction to computers, music, movement, and Bible time are all a part of the three and four-year-old's day at preschool.

Pre-Kindergarten Program Our Pre-Kindergarten program builds a strong foundation, preparing your child for Kindergarten. Using a variety of materials, the children learn the following skills:

> Establish Attention skills through listening activities with effective questioning
> Visual perception and comprehension
> Develop Reasoning processes with objects, pictures, and ideas
> Encourage oral communications
> Provide activities to develop motor skills
> Develop sound discrimination and auditory memory
> Introduce computer skills
> Practice phonic skills in whole words
> Math - an introduction to skills that will be repeated and broadened in Kindergarten
> Handwriting - tracing and tracking correct pre-cursive letter formation: proper pencil hold and paper placement
> Science themes that provide interest and motivation
> One-on-One time with their teachers
> Learning basic Spanish

Social and spiritual goals of the curriculum are stressed in conjunction with the academic skills. All of the above adds up to a uniquely integrated, un-pressured program for the Pre-Kindergartner.

School wide, we enhance our program with thematic units. These themes are incorporated in a number of different ways such as projects, stories, songs, centers, activities, bulletin boards, and much more. They make learning fun!
