Any student illness must be reported and kept in a written log in the school office. It is necessary that you notify us with a telephone call or in person at your earliest convenience.
Any child that is visibly sick, running a fever of 100.5 or higher, or has had diarrhea or vomiting more than twice in 24 hours will not be accepted into the school. Please do not ask us to admit your child if there are signs of fever, diarrhea, skin infection, or any form of contagious illness. If the child is already at school, the child will be removed from the classroom and parents will be notified.
When a child has been sent home from school or has discovered they have an illness, the child must be fever free, symptom free and illness free for 24 hours before returning to school. This is without the use of fever reducers such as Tylenol or Motrin. If the child is diagnosed with a contagious illness such as pink eye, strep throat, chicken pox, etc. we will need a written release from the doctor to return them to school.
Should the need arise, we will administer medications prescribed by a doctor and/or over the counter medication with a doctor's authorization as long as the following procedures are followed:
1. A form must be filled out in full with your signature and a beginning and ending date.
2. The child's name and the name on the label must match.
3. The reason for the medication must be given. The reason stated needs to be specific. ("As Needed" is not acceptable)
4. When the end date has expired, the medicine must be taken home.
All medication is administered at 11:00 only. Most medications can be prescribed for twice a day. Ask your doctor if this is possible, to eliminate the need for medicine at school. All of the children enrolled at Parkway have to be current on their immunizations. The office will notify you when we are aware of a deficiency. When you receive new immunizations, please notify the office so that the records can be updated.
These regulations are designed for the health and safety of all our children.
Emergency Medical Procedures
In the case of an emergency, the office will be notified and 911 will be called. Administration will notify the parents or emergency contact by phone or an equally expeditious method within thirty minutes.
